the story

Once upon a time, there was nothing—no trees, no animals, no people. But God wanted to create a special place for us to live. So, He began to create. On the first day, God said, "Let there be light!" And there was light. He called it day, and the dark time He called night.

On the second day, God made the sky. He filled it with fluffy clouds during the day and sparkly stars at night. It was so beautiful!

On the third day, God made land and seas. He made tall mountains and deep oceans. He also made plants and trees that grow fruits and flowers.

On the fourth day, God made the sun to shine during the day and the moon and stars to twinkle at night. He wanted us to have light and a way to tell time.

On the fifth day, God made all kinds of animals that live in the water and the birds that fly in the sky. They were so colorful and amazing!

On the sixth day, God made land animals like lions, elephants, and monkeys. He made cows, dogs, and cats too. But the most special thing He made on this day was people—boys and girls like you and me. God made people to take care of the world and to love Him and each other.

On the seventh day, God looked at everything He had made, and it was very good. He rested on this day and called it the day of rest—a special day to spend time with Him.

let's Play!

Let's play "Name That Creation!" I will describe something God created, and you have to guess what it is. For example, if I say, "It flies in the sky and sings beautiful songs," you would guess "bird." Ready to play?

let's make!

Things you'll need:

Let's make a beautiful world collage! Give each child a piece of paper and some magazines or pictures of nature. Have them cut out pictures of trees, flowers, animals, and people. Then, they can glue the pictures onto their paper to create their own collage. Encourage them to talk about the things they are sticking on the paper and how they appreciate God's creation.

let's Pray!

Dear God, thank you for creating the world and everything in it. Help us to take care of the earth and to love each other just as you love us. In Jesus' name, amen.
